We strive to ensure all pupils achieve their own level of excellence."

Andy Phillips, Director of Sport

Sport is an important part of life at Kings – not only helping to build pupils’ physical abilities and resilience but playing a vital role in developing their personal qualities and social skills.

Our overall aim is to ensure all pupils gain lifelong health and fitness benefits through active participation in sport at all levels. Our established Gifted and Talented Programme gives our most talented young sportsmen and women the start they need to realise their potential and advance their sporting careers.

In common with our academic curriculum, we provide a wide range of traditional and non-traditional sports so that individuals are more likely to find an activity they enjoy. Our highly qualified PE and Games teachers can coach to professional standards while also having the ability to encourage pupils of all abilities.

Facilities are excellent and include the cricket and rugby ground at Archdeacon Meadow, and a purpose-designed Sports Centre with an indoor swimming pool, multi-use sports hall and a well-equipped fitness gym. We also provide plenty of opportunities for competition throughout the year with a full inter-school fixtures list and regular sporting tours overseas.
