We regard high quality pastoral care to be a vital pillar of school life. At whatever age children join the King’s community, our aim is to do everything in our power to help them feel happy and secure. Our belief is simple: pupils who enjoy school learn better.
King’s small class sizes provide an inbuilt advantage, allowing teachers to get to know their pupils as individuals and to detect difficulties at an early stage. We work closely with parents to ensure any support provided is consistent – both at home and in school.
Although class teachers or tutors take day-to-day responsibility for their pupils’ pastoral care, all staff meet regularly as a team to discuss any concerns and can call on additional welfare, counselling and medical expertise if required. As a further safeguard, the whole care system is overseen at Deputy Head level.
